'Science as Culture' 33k.
I was branching out into the mass media and had embarked on the 'Crucible: Science in Society' series of television documentaries. I was invited by John Ryle, co-editor of an impressive and imaginative new cultural periodical, Quarto (which, alas, did not survive for long) to write about my point of view. The result is what I consider to be the most clear and succinct of my efforts to encompass the concept of science as culture, a phrase I first used here and which later became the title for the re-launched Radical Science Journal. It appeared in Quarto No. 2, December 1979, pp. 7-8.
