'Big Books' 33k
I was asked to write something for the newsletter of the Lincoln Centre, a training organisation where I was doing a postgraduate course. I thought I'd reflect on the sorts of books which have kept me going in difficult times - ones into which I could disappear and not think of the vicissitudes of life. This is the result. I suppose it's self-indulgent, but then that was the point: how books can indulge one in enlightening ways. A shortened version appeared in that newsletter in 1992.
