'The Messiness, Ambivalence and Conflict of Everyday Life' 33k
This is my response to the call for papers to the 11th annual conference on Psychoanalysis and the Public Sphere, the year after I, one of the founders of the conference, left the planning committee. It is a reflexive argument about how we behave toward one another in this and related contexts. I argue that would institutional affiliations take precedence over our professed politics. The conference was entitled 'Where Are the People? Expertise and Experience', University of East London, 30-31 January 1998.
