This is a new site but is posted on NARSAD and several
other sites. I have identified unsuspected separation traumas in the
first two years of life which correlate with the later development of
Schizophrenia, and the identical traumas in the next year of life
correlate with the later development of non-psychotic Major Depression.
Sarnoff Mednick of USC tested and confirmed one of the many traumas on
the 6,000 patients in the Finnish database on Schizophrenia.
The web site also provides the latest information
about new theoretical concepts, and the textbook -- which is described
on the site -- was nominated for the Pulitzer for Advancements in the
Field of Psychiatry. The primary purpose of the web site is research,
but it also provides new information on Schizophrenia and Depression,
and it describes the new Unification Theory of Mental illness.

News feature, including related links, on
anosognosia--a mental disability that affects some stroke victims--and
its implications for understanding the relationship between mind and
body. Some people with this disorder, who, remarkably, do not recognize
that they are paralyzed, have been found, even more remarkably, not to
be able to recognize paralysis in others. "This finding seems to
indicate that our awareness of ourselves is inextricably entwined with
our awareness of others."

"ShrinkTank BBS was founded and
placed online in 1983, run by Rob Bischoff, Ph.D., on a Commodore 64
computer. In 1984, it was moved to an IBM Clone XT machine (with RamPage
memory running under Desqview. Multi-tasking in 1984 on an XT!) and in
1986 to a brand new 80386/20DX machine. The 'tank' was online until May
31, 1996 as a single line dial up (with a few exceptions, including the
earthquake of 1989 in Silicon Valley, CA). ShrinkTank BBS has always
been a FREE system and this replacement Web Site will follow that
tradition."
