Cybertherapy

Cybertherapy

" Therapists working with clients over the internet is a field in its infancy. Are Online Mental Health Services the same as face-to-face psychotherapy? No, neither of us can pick up the cues we would if we saw each other. Much of the benefit for you will derive from the writing itself. As a writer, I find the process cleansing and clarifying. You may find e-mail an easy way to discuss problems. The flavor of anonymity of e-mail may contribute to a freedom of expression in your correspondence. A male friend who looked at this website said he liked the idea because he wouldn't need to be embarassed if he collapsed in tears while writing. And it gives me time to consider my responses to you. Also we don't have to meet at the same time. It may be a comfortable way for you to begin opening up to another person and having a witness to your process as you shine light on dusty secrets."

NetPsych.com--Exploring the Online Delivery of Mental Health Services

"This site explores the uses of the Internet to deliver Mental Health Services. This is a new frontier. There aren't many rules, and questions remain. Other sites are built as directories of real world mental health resources, or as a combination of real world and online resources. NetPsych is the first site to focus exclusively on online resources. Come back and visit as we grow."
